Any clue how Finchy's relationship with Julius was back in Nawlins? Coach seems to be able to get players to do what he needs them to without discontent. I think Randle has a chance to do well here but not sure of his mindset.
Also if the Hawks, Pistons and Heat had been sniffing around Tandle I'd guess that means DeAndre Hunter, Isaiah Stewart and Duncan Robinson would have been the offers. Stewart could be intriguing but something to consider is he has never been a part of winning. I don't think Hunter moves the needle here. Robinson would be a hell no.
Also if the Hawks, Pistons and Heat had been sniffing around Tandle I'd guess that means DeAndre Hunter, Isaiah Stewart and Duncan Robinson would have been the offers. I don't know much about Randle. Obviously you (and some others) are not too positive on him. But I do see he has put up good stats and has been an All Star the last two seasons. So (even if you don't like him) there has to be some value there. My question to you is this...if we can flip Randle for an expiring plus a future 1st at some point, how would you then view the the trade/TC?
Towns for:
* Donte DiVincenzo
* lottery-protected, first-round pick from the Pistons
* Another 1st round pick for Randle
Assuming Divincenzo performs like he did last year, I'd probably be fine with those returns. And even if we can't flip Randle this season, I think he's a $31M expiring contract next season...so that should be worth something - right?

I just went through multiple Randle trade scenarios. I don’t see any viable trade for the Wolves to move Randle. The apron restrictions are so tight now - not just on us as a 2nd-apron team but also on a number of 1st-apron contenders who MIGHT have interest in Randle. So even if there’s a good match of players for some potential deals (already a long shot), CBA constraints won’t allow them. I didn’t realize how daunting it would be until I started running through scenarios on the trade machine. We remain over the 2nd-apron, which means we cannot aggregate outgoing players to sweeten the pot. And we don’t have valuable tradable draft capital to entice other teams. So we should suck it up and realize that Julius Randle will be with the Wolves at least through this upcoming season. And because he has a player option for over $30M next season, we should expect to be stuck with him for the next two seasons. No other team is going to offer as much as his PO next summer and I don’t see any teams investing in him long term unless he has a stellar season with the Wolves and even then that’s highly uncertain given how he plays relative to how the modern NBA game is played and his well-known chemistry issues.
So bottom line is that Finch had better find a way for Randle to actually make the Wolves better when he’s on the floor and actually perform in the playoffs. And unfortunately, our financial situation with Randle on the books probably makes re-signing Naz untenable next summer because we’ll still be over the 2nd apron and well over the 1st apron if we pay Naz anything close to his market value.
Perhaps TC can come up with something. TC has earned some trust based on the moves he’s made overall. So fingers crossed that he’ll find a way.

I think this trade signals that Naz is a lock to be resigned, unless maybe Randle shows himself to be an amazing fit this year.

That’s logical. But they’ll have to figure out how to avoid being stuck with Randle’s PO contract in order to sign Naz without staying over the 2nd apron and enduring unacceptable sanctions.
