They just run out of gas.
Great observation
Yeah, I agree. The Lakers are a talented team and were 2 to 1 favorites coming into the series, but we may have found a team we’re better than in the 4th. Keep it close through 3, and we have a good chance to win 2 more games

Abe's 1st Playoffs DRV Review:

- McDaniels was spectacular. Scotty Pippen v2.0 or not... I see the allure. Everyone sees the allure.

- Edwards was the closer. Great game.

- Doncic fouled McDaniels 7-ish times in the 1st 5 minutes. He was not called for a foul once. When he finally did get a foul call against him... he keep pointing #1. It felt like trolling... LOL.

- (1) Fun with free throw violations. Again! Gobert at the line. Doncic acts like a 7th grader and steps in right as he goes into his motion. The best part... it was his 1st of two.

- (2) 9:24 in the 3rd... Conley flanked by Edwards and McDaniels. Two Lakers back. All at halfcourt.
- (3) Ends up with a wide open Edwards for three to take the lead. Point guard!

- (4) Foul... shmoul.

- Clutch time. I felt doom.

- Divincenzo passed up open looks.

- I want everyone to remember this game when a Wolves player whines about a call in game #48 next season. The amount of whining the Wolves did compared to the physicality they battled through was amazing. Right or wrong... it was endearing in the 2025 version of the NBA. It's an easy team to like for that alone.

On the fouls, the Lakers were charged with 23 personal fouls and the Wolves had 19. Julius shot 10 free throws, so obviously the refs didn't turn a blind eye on the contact he was drawing. So overall, I didn't think the refs had all that much influence on the game and both teams played pretty clean (physical, yes, but clean).

In terms of clutch time, starting at the 4:37 mark after a Wolves timeout the game was tied at 103-103. From that point forward, Ant had 8 points on 5 shots, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and a defensive stop on Rui Hachimura right underneath the Lakers basket. And most importantly, zero turnovers! He delivered when we needed him most.

Not sure what the hell is wrong with Rudy. I know he's getting frozen out by his team mates, but I think that's mostly because the Lakers switch everything and pack the paint, making it really crowded in there. He's not exactly the best target in traffic! He simply has to find a way to coral more offensive rebounds given his size advantage. He has three O-boards in three in games, so one per god damned game! His hands have been TERRIBLE!

Q, along with Jaden's stellar performance, you captured the three most important takeaways from the game. Tony Brothers is ripped by everyone for calling too many fouls and turning it into his show, but I had no problems with the reffing last night...the Wolves play very physical, and 19 fouls is fine. And yeah, Ant was terrific in the final 4 minutes...that's how we need our star to play (but please move without the ball a little, Ant!). And then Rudy has been a complete mystery to me. He should be dominating this series like he did the final 10 games of the season. Maybe Rudy potentially waking up is some reason for even more optimism here.

I recognize Luka's immense talent, but I just don't like him. His on-court smirking bugs me. And the way he played up the "stomach virus" with all his dramatic expressions was ridiculous. I wonder if he was really sick...I don't think he could play 40 minutes of ball-dominant basketball if he was. Some here will take special delight in beating LeBron...for me, it's all about sending Luka back to Slovenia for the summer.

Finally, imagine how pissed off the Lakers must be waking up to 41 degrees in a town they don't want to be in, knowing they are here for another 5 days...I love it!

I noticed that also. Such a poor sport. The ref should have called a lane violation and delay of game.

I agree with Rudy dominating more. But the refs are also letting them play a lot and the Lakers are packing the paint a ton, so Rudy is between 4 Lakers usually fighting for the ball (on the O glass) and he simply can't out physical 4 guys bumping and swiping at it.

Still I want to see more from Rudy. He was stellar at times on defense last night though. I'd give him a B grade for last night.

Watching this one I haven't been so nervous for a Sports game in quite a while.

First I want to say that LeBron had a heck of a game. Yes he had a couple of clubs including on late in the game but overall that was a hell of a game by him.

McDaniels!!!! Holy shit that was awesome on both ends. He really has taken that step this year and this game was huge.

Randle had a hell of a game keeping the Wolves in in in the first half and doing lots of good things throughout the game.

Gobert wasn't amazing but he had a real impact in the minutes he had out there. I still want more but he was better than his Stat line indicates.

Donte...i kept saying during the game we need more from him on offense and he did end up providing some and they need more from him but he did a lot of good stuff he was a positive in this one.

Conley scored some points. They don't need a ton out of him in that regard but they need something.

That was an excellent finish from the Wolves.

Another thought: I always think it's bizarre people think teams should save their challenges till a key point in the game. That early challenge made even more sense with the Wolves struggling early in the series but what if you never get another clear challenge? If you get a clear win and you still have one left then why can't that be a big play? The Wolves did well with their challenges in this game getting 2 key plays going their way one early and one late.

Edit: Forgot to add that the Wolves only had 8 turnovers to the Lakers 16.

Also at one point of the game I was worried about the refs affecting the game and helping the Lakers but that didn't really happen down the stretch. A lot of that had to do with the Wolves playing well.

Q im not gonna lie i hate the stat of they had more fouls than us. A foul is a foul in my opinon. As abe said and i even made joke comment that Jaden had to be shot to get to the line. Just cause 23 were called doesn't mean 15 more weren't called correctly.

Vando has been called for one illegal screen this whole series yesterday on 3 separate occasions we had player fall down cause he shoved them or grabbed them by there shorts or jersey.

To be fair... my comment about the Wolves not whining was much less about officiating than just how novel it is in 2025 to see players in a physical game NOT begging or arguing calls nearly every play.

It seemed like a concerted effort/plan to just play through everything.

There are always a few calls to point out... right now, I'm just glad this series isn't like what's going on with Houston or Orlando. Those teams are basically fouling every play and daring officials to call fouls. Physicality is good... fouling constantly is a gimmick.
