It's difficult for me to gauge how other teams in the league will value Naz. Will they consider him a no brainer starter and pay him well? A couple things to consider. He has played more each of the last couple years and while AI think he has been overall a little better player all around his efficiency has gone down and his FT rate has dropped. He is still fairly young but turns 26 in August so that's fading a bit. Will teams really think he is a center? A starting PF? Idk. On the other hand a volume 3 point shooting big that can score of the dribble and in transition and can play ina switchable defense has plenty of value. Is Naz Reid the guy some team is gonna use their likely one chance at adding a big time impact player? How much are the Wolves willing to give him? I can see the argument that it's too much but I think 20 million seems like a reasonable starting point. Monk is a worthwhile comp but Reid is a better 3 point shooter but offers some playmaking as well.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 10:32 am Lip, I think your off on your contract estimates for Randle and NAZ...
For Randle, he could just opt in and get his 31 mil next year, and worry about a new contract next offseason. I would expect a contract extension that starts at 31 mil and increases each year thereafter.
I just don't know why you insist on giving NAZ more money than he is worth, or the Wolves can afford to give. He really has not had a great year. Is he worth more than Jaden McDaniels?!? I view his value in line with Malik Monk, who was neck and neck with NAZ for 6th man of year last season until Monk went down with a late season injury. Monk signed a contract extension starting at 17.5 mil last year. NAZ's player option is for 15 mil, so my expectation is he signs an extension in the 15 to 18 mil range. And I will not be surprised at all if NAZ decides to move on to greener pastures where he has an opportunity to start and make more money.
If NAZ does move on, we will have money to sign an interim big in free agency as we let our knew big(s) from the draft develop.

Losing assistants is the hallmark of a good organization. The really good orgs replace him with another top notch coach. So losing Nori wouldn't bother me at all.

I agree although there is always a bit of an unknown like anything. There could even be a benefit of adding someone new with a fresh perspective.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 6:43 pm Losing assistants is the hallmark of a good organization. It’s going to be hard for me to bring Naz and Naw back at a raise when they no show for the 3rd straight playoffs
Re: Bring Them All Back?
Rudy was awful last night. His new contract may still give him some trade value. I wouldnt mind us retooling our front line and bench. We would lose some d but finding a center that can play decent D, roll to the rim, and actually catch the ball doesnt seem like to big of an ask.
Re: Bring Them All Back?
Doper, there’s no question that Rudy was an embarrassment every time the ball touched his hands. But there’s a reason we played the thunder almost dead even in the 21 minutes he was on the court in a game we lost by 20+…he remains a defensive force, and his screening frees up his teammates for open looks. Kek always does a great job documenting what happens with our interior defense when he sits, and it ain’t pretty. If we ever move on from Rudy, TC better have a suitable defensive options. Otherwise we’ll have to prepare ourselves for a season of layup lines.thedoper wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:30 am Rudy was awful last night. His new contract may still give him some trade value. I think there is a happy medium of a player that doesnt cost as much as Rudy out there. Also, Rudy’s 2nd half minutes were a layup line too. His D is getting more spotty.FNG wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:40 amDoper, there’s no question that Rudy was an embarrassment every time the ball touched his hands. Gotta believe a happy medium solution you propose is something TC has to be thinking about in the next few years. Meanwhile, we have a conference finals to worry about. And if Finchy somehow isnt aware that OkC outscored us by 24 points in the 27 minutes Rudy sat, I’m sure elston turner is reminding him today.
