The case for Ryan Kalkbrenner:

1. Very good size. Has 9’4 standing reach and 7’6 wingspan at 257 pounds
2. Shot blocker. Has terrific shot-blocking instincts, averaging 2.7 blocks per game in 34.5 minutes
3. Has terrific hands
4. Has nice baby hook shots with either hand
5. Has nice perimeter shooting touch.
6. NBA ready with 4 years of substantial college experience under his belt and an NBA body

Only downside is his name. Very boring.

The case for Yanic Konan Niederhauser.

1. Athleticism. Has great athleticism for a big with 37” max vertical, 2.84 shuttle, and 3.2 3/4 court sprint time.
2. Good size. Has 9’3 standing reach and 7’3.25 wingspan at 242 pounds.
3. Shot blocking. Natural shot-blocker averaging 2.3 blocks in 33.5 minutes last season.
4. Ball skills. Seems to have a nice dribble drive game in close with some nice moves. Not sure about shooting though.
4. Great name. Not crazy about last name & whole thing’s too long. But can’t beat Konan. “Konan the Barbarian”

Looks like he has excess body fat. Could see him getting even more impressive physically under NBA conditioning program.
I'm down for all three centers Yanic or Kalkbrenner, or Rocco you listed at 31. All three could be good choices there. I also think we should find a way to get another 2nd round pick for Ryan Nembhard. After watching his brother also a 2nd round pick tear it up in the finals, we should grab him and most mocks have him going late 2nd round.

I like the bigs projected at 31 as well while targeting the wings at 17, someone like Cedric Coward.

I’m not against drafting him but he has no of the dribble game, not much of a shot and is a bad perimeter defender meaning they are stuck in drop with him on the floor. Not saying that is a bad thing but defensive flexibility is gone with him on the floor

I think he has a nice looking perimeter shot. Otherwise, I agree with you on the rest. Soon I’ll be posting my case for Thomas Sorber. He’s the guy I’d draft for the Wolves if available.

Rudy is an elite perimeter defender. One of the best big men in the league at guarding in space. Once again I’m not against drafting him but I think it’s important to state is flaws also.

That’s fair. I think he can shoot a little bit but it’s not consistent but yes you are right he has potential jump shot

Given how active Connelly is and how he will move things around while spinning three plates riding a unicycle, who knows what pick(s) we actually end up with??? So other than the top two or three picks, I don't think anyone is impossible to get if Connelly wants it bad enough.

Having said that, he may also be perfectly comfortable swapping out #17 for some future 1st and just using the #31 pick. Who knows?

Whatever happens though, we can't come out of the draft and free agency with just one guy on the roster capable of playing Center. So the draft is the first opportunity to address that hole and I feel anyone from Maluach on down is in play for the Wolves.

I’m predicting we trade 17 for a future first. I think the asset of being able to trade a pick in the future is better than the 17 pick personally
