Well Kawhi left, however . . .

How would we feel if Rudy, Ju and Donte were traded for KD and Claxton and KD walks? Assuming we keep Naz but NOT NAW, wouldn't the Wolves have 25+ million in cap space?

Clark would be up for an extension.

I'd probably rather keep NAW. That would keep the Wolves slightly under the cap and leave some optionality to add a good piece in trade or MLE.

So this is a late observation on a prior rumor, but a KD trade that includes Brooklyn is much more likely to have Claxton heading towards Phoenix than to Minnesota. I could see Randle to the Nets along with draft compensation, Claxton, DDV and draft compensation to Phoenix, and KD to the Wolves. The draft compensation might look something like #17 to the Nets, but the Nets sending #26 and #27 to the Suns and Wolves. A couple other things would need to be added to make it all work out, and it could not be executed until after July 1st, which means draft picks would be made for other teams...

Why? This place is a shithole where it’s winter half the year also. Can you really blame him?

Well it is definitely cold. But NBA players spend a significant amount of that time in airports, in a gym or out of town.

As for the Twin Cities being a shithole... would be interesting to see how you compare it with other NBA cities. MN is noted for a pretty high standard quality of life.
Maybe 20 years ago. It's sad to see what's happened to that great state.

You do realize we are literally in one of the most peaceful eras in human history? There are no wars that the USA is involved in. This isn't the cowboy days when you could hanged for looking at someone funny in a saloon. This isn't the first settlers of Minnesota era where people froze to death. It might not be quite what it was 20 years ago, but it's still pretty peaceful and you can still walk down the street in Minneapolis and have almost 0% chance of anything bad happening to you.

Yeah, I've lived in Minneapolis and or suburbs most of my life, and have always felt fortunate that I was born here. I'm retired now and spend half the year in Tucson, but that's only because I don't enjoy winter as much as I used to. But I'll take Minnesota over Arizona any day...when my car crosses that Iowa border every May, I say a little prayer of thanks. We had a brutal murder by a crazy man this past weekend and the state is mourning, but there are crazy people everywhere...he doesn't represent what this city is all about.

Something I just thought of is Connelly could be heavily involved in these talks gauging value of some of his own players. Not just trade value but maybe he is getting sense of what teams would pay for NAW, Randle and Naz. What teams are interested? What if Randle and his representatives are finding out a decent idea of what he is worth if he opted out? What if this is a way for the Wolves and Randle to possibly come to an extension agreement? What if Connelly already knows one of the FAs is gonna have a strong market so he is working to see if he can get a deal in place to get something for the Wolves and maybe a good payday for that player?

Maybe there is a sign and trade that comes from all these talks. Maybe there is an opportunity to add some other player we hadn't even considered. I wouldn't have even thought of Jalen Green and while I'm not pounding the table for him he could be an interesting get depending on what the cost was. Maybe there is some other player they could add. Just looking through a handful of teams...does Portland find a team that wants Ayton and gives up something they want back? Or maybe they trade Robert Williams or maybe The Hornets find a taker for Nurkic...is Marcus Smart staying in Washington?

Don't look into that. Randle's not going back to Brooklyn for yet another pick this year when they already have 5 of the first 36. Also, put it this way:

If you were the Nets would you rather trade Claxton for Randle to guarantee Randle is sullen all season long or sign Naz Reid and actually begin to rebuild?
