Takes up 15 million in Brooklyn's cap space plus the picks cap cost to get that 22nd pick. I really don't think they are going to be a threat at all at signing Naz, NAW or anyone this summer, and they are the only team with significant cap space.

I anticipated that Brooklyns cap space would end up being rented out and that they wouldnt choose to outprice the Wolves for Naz. That's 5 first round picks for Brooklyn right now.

They may not have been all that interested in Naz or any FAs and or they may have known Naz wasn't really looking to leave.

It's also potentially good for keeping Randle too. That was the only team that could pay him more than his option right? If so he isn't opting out now for FA...which he probably wasn't anyways.

Naw could still get an offer of more money than the Wolves are willing to pay if some team is willing to pay a healthy chunk of the mid-level...I can't remember how many teams have access to the full mid-level or that kind of space to sign him.

I don't know if its possible to trade Randle to Atlanta and reroute Porzingis our way as we are a second apron team at the moment and Randle's option hasn't been exercised. Atlanta already has Okongwu, so maybe they would prefer Randle over Porzingis.

PS: Another option is Clint Capela in free agency.

Atlanta also has Risacher and a returning Jalen Johnson for their forward spots. I don't see a match

Yeah with them moving on from Capela they needed a guy with true center size. They gave up a first round pick to get Porzingis they aren't trading him elsewhere. I believe Okongwu is still a little undersized at center.

Edit: To correct my post above the first round pick was more to get off the Mann salary but Porzingis makes sense in Atlanta

It would seem that with Porzingis going to Atlanta that they would let the centers slip by at pick 13 or be open for business.

Maybe. On the other hand Porzingis is only signed for 1 year so if they really like a big are they gonna pass on them because they acquired an almost 30 year old center that has problems staying healthy?

I think so. The East is wide open and there probably isn't a center ready to go at that slot. Man, if only tne Wolves were in the East already.
