Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Hmm.. Maybe TC wanted to keep us engaged in this thread past pick #31!

Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Just for fun let's look at a trade from a few years ago and follow the picks.
When The Wolves traded Rubio to the Cavs they received a 2nd that turned into the 40th pick in the 2nd round in 2022. They traded down to 46 selecting Josh Minott and received a future 2nd that would be from the Knicks. That 2nd turned out to be the selection the Wolves used to pick Jaylen Clark. The Wolves didn't luck out with the Knicks having good success making it a lower 2nd but they ended up with what may be a pretty useful player by trading down a couple years earlier.

We now have the 6th pick in the second round. Here are my top six remaining prospects in order of preference:
1. Fleming
2. Raynaud
3. Kalkbrenner
4. Noah Panda
5. Rocco Zikarsky
6. Dink Pate

For all you Xedit guys:
c/Panda/Penda/*
or, in preg mode:
s/Panda/Penda/g
(I think I got that syntax right...)

2032 is awfully far out. The 2026 2nd seems weak. Surprised we couldn’t’ get a better deal for 31. I would have just kept it and picked Fleming or Raynaud. Boston apparently wants Fleming. I would have drafted him and maybe we could have included him in a package for White.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 7:00 pmGood value!!! The 32 looks to likely end up being a nice trade chip for nearly nothing.

You're overthinking it. It's round 2. Nobody's looking at round 2 and determining that tonight is what will be a dealbreaker for someone elite.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 7:17 pm2032 is awfully far out. The 2026 2nd seems weak. This is 29 picks of mostly dart throws.
According to Jon Krawczynski, not selecting Fleming is probably a good indicator that they expect Randle AND Reid back

Maybe the player they want will be available at #36 and we also get two future 2nds to replenish the war chest.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 7:17 pm2032 is awfully far out. Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Not overthinking. You don’t enter a different universe when you go from the 1st round to the 2nd. Rasheed Fleming was widely regarded as a 1st round talent. We were in a great spot at 31 to get him and passed on that chance for future 2nd round picks that will likely be far lower than #31 in 2026 and far down the road and uncertain in 2032. TC must have someone in mind who he’s convinced will be available at 36. He seems to have great insight into what other teams will do and he seems to be selective in targeting certain players. So I’m interested to see who he picks at 36. I would not have traded #31 for what the Wolves got in return because the guys I like will likely be gone by then. The 2026 pick will likely be around #50. Andthe Wolves might be in Vegas by 2032.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 7:19 pmYou're overthinking it. It's round 2. All picks are dart throws at some level but not entirely. If it’s just a game of darts then there’s no need for need all those high-priced NBA basketball executives and scouts, right?
