And how a team that many think are stuck and stale can turn the tables. The Wolves aren't stuck.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 4:06 pmThis is how a team like us can go backwards without actually going backwards in terms of talent. So when folks here (just a couple, not you) lament about how we were barely better after the Rudy and KAT trade because, after all, we won only three more games than the 46 we won a few years ago, they need to take into account that may be the equivalent of that team wouldn't even make the playoffs this year!
Free Agency Begins!

They aren't by any means and we have the assets and "asset classes", if you will, to put together any variety of deals big and small.Phenom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:23 pmAnd how a team that many think are stuck and stale can turn the tables. I just think if nothing changes between now and training camp that most of us as fans should hang our hat on the youth movement versus thinking we're going to win 58+ games and emerge as Western Conference champs.

So, the moratorium ends at 12 noon EDT (11 CDT). So, the official signings and trades can start taking place. Which means we should find out the actual numbers for NAZ and Randle in the next few days.
The Durant trade was talked about expanding to 7 teams, including the Timberwolves. But I don't think it will change anything on the Wolves end -- NAW still goes out for a 2nd round pick and a trade exception. Something probably happens on the Atlanta end, and the other teams, to help make all the salary matching work for everybody. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
At some point, the open roster spots and available FA money will start drying up, and a game of musical chairs will begin for those FAs out there still looking for a home.
