Jake Fischer: Sacramento and New York were the two teams that I was told back in Las Vegas were the top contenders for Ben Simmons and his two best options. But we've also been told that Boston and Phoenix are teams that have ra made contact with his camp and his representation. The Suns I think make a little bit less sense now that they have brought in Jordan Goodwin after claiming him off waivers from the Lakers. And Boston, I think their situation is still a little bit murky being that they are absolutely still going to be open and engaged on trade conversations for Anfernee Simons and George Niang, but right now there's a bit of a Ben Simmons sweep stakes going on at the the bottom of the barrel of the NBA free agency open market period.

Hey guys, he’s still available! If nothing else, he’d be a great team culture addition. :)
Boston and the Suns are pivoting to some extent and so they are kinda looking to add anyone that might help. I don't think either of them have a typical PF maybe even on their roster. Simmons isn't one either but he has the size and I believe he is still a pretty good defender at that position. He is never gonna get back to being even a high end starter but I'm kinda cheering for him to find some sort of home or role in the league. I believe most of his talent is there but there is obviously something wrong with him and I don't think it's just basketball confidence. I'd rather have Kyle Anderson even though Simmons should be and might still be a better player.

Ben doesn't love basketball. He loves the checks.

I’m certain TC has no interest in Simmons, nor should he, given the premium TC rightly puts on team culture. TC wants players who are super competitive and highly self-motivated. it’s been clear for years that Simmons isn’t much interested in playing basketball, much less motivated to compete.

Feels hard to do that when our franchise is so disadvantaged to getting any free agent of worth or even a trade for a player like Durant that doesn't want anything to do with playing in Minnesota. I don't know what percentage of the league doesn't want to play here, as everyone signed with the Clippers Lakers, and are waiting on Golden State to finalize Kuminga so they can sign there. Our options are already limited by that group of players that we could ever bring in and have them happy to be here. Than we have players that actually want to be here like Rudy or Kat, and half the fans wanted KAT traded and the other half want Rudy traded.

The guys of any worthwhile ilk that signed with those teams so far are getting either starting or clear cut roles and got paid more than what the Wolves were likely offering. The Wolves had enough talent they didn't even keep Garza and Minott 2 guys the Celtics were happy to scoop up for cheap deals. Leonard Miller might never play this year. Jaylen Clark might not even play in 20+ games this year because there are that many guys in front of him.

Are the Wolves as much of a destination as those teams? No but like Lip said they are building their own culture and they have been able to accumulate talent in a variety of ways some of which has kept them from landing FAs especially the last 2 offseason...so far.

If the Wolves finish up this season and they find they need a PG they might be able to sign a FA for a cheaper deal because there is an opportunity. Right now it's like hey do you want to sit on the bench and cheer next to Joe Ingles and maybe play of there are a couple injuries? If so great we got a vet min deal for you! Maybe this is a good place for Ben Simmons if that's all he wants to do. I think it's clear for whatever reason he isn't giving his everything to the game. Maybe his injuries are more problematic than we know.

I really think it's too risky going into this season without another point guard. Any free agent point guard, should salivate at the idea of coming here knowing Mike Conley is 38 and could get benched or injured at any moment at his age, opening up big minutes next to Ant. We still find all these free agents not even looking our way. We'll probably end up signing PJ Dozier or Bones who won't be able to help if Mike goes down or falls off completely this year. There is no way Rob is ready to play 30 minutes a night if that happens.

That's one of the reasons they traded for Donte because he can help at the guard spot. He is also a possible trade piece if they need help there.

This franchise is clearly looking to win games but they do have their 1st round pick this year unless the Jazz magically are better than them so it's not like some disaster if they end up struggling some.

Looking over the FA list there are still some good to decent PG/combo guards available that are at worst solid backup PG options then there are sone guys that wouldn't be too bad as depth guys as a third PG or just as a worthwhile guard. If all the first group is signed then I'll start getting a bit more concerned but even after that there might be some guys that could give value if called upon. Delon Wright is down the list but looking a little more I see he played better with the Knicks than the Bucks. I'd guess he can still defend and he is a really low turnover guy. A big combo guard that can defend and run an offense if called on. FWIW Knicks were 4-1 in the games he started.

Agreed. No idea why we’re not getting more interest (maybe we are?) from some of these guys. I saw something on lamebook about Westbrook wanting to play with Ant, but who knows if that’s reliable. That guy is just terrible though, wouldn’t want him playing for Iowa wolves lol

You’d think a guy like Brogden would be all over this opportunity
