- Minnesota is 33 - 89 (.270) vs. the Yankees since 2001. (About the same winning percentage as Bill Blair or Randy Wittman with the Wolves... better than Rambis though!)

- And as everybody knows... NY has knocked the Twins out of 4 of the team's last 5 playoff appearances... with the Twins winning only 2 games in those 4 series...

Gonna make it sweeter when the Twins win though, right?

Yep.

I doubt the current Twins team gives a $&#% about those numbers. They haven't seemed phased by anything else this season. Maybe that's a big reason why this team is likeable. It would be extra sweet if Mauer could get a big hit to win it.

Tickets may be even harder to come by than when KC made its run a couple years ago.

Sano is back. I can only see him playing as a DH for now.

Berrios is being prepared to be available to pitch out of the pen in the wildcard game.

Yankees making a move on the Red Sox

Gibson has a less than inspiring outing last night but...he brings run support with him so it's all good right? lol

I am really pulling for this group. It is a very easy team to like.

Coming up with a 23 man roster for just one game is an odd exercise. It's difficult to think you need any more than 8 pitchers, but I think they will go with 10 because I can't come up with more than 15 position players who should be on the roster. Here's what I have:

Outfielders: Rosario, Buxton, Kepler, Grossman, Granite (late inning pinch runner)

DHs: Vargas, Sano

Infielders: Escobar, Polanco, Dozier, Mauer, Adrianza

Catchers: All 3 including Garver to allow for pinch hitting

That leaves room for 10 pitchers, and I think Mollie will go like this:

Starter: Santana

Follow up starter: Berrios

Long innings guy, if needed for extra innings: Gibson

Closer: Belisle

Lefties: Rogers, Boshers, Mejia

Righties: Hildenberger, Pressley, Hildenberger

That leaves off Duffey and Gee, and Colon of course since he just pitched yesterday. Anybody see it differently?

That seems about right except:

Who is the 4th catcher you are talking about?

I think Gee has to be on the roster.

I was reading about Goodrum last night and apparently the guy is a very good athlete and therefore could be a guy you have available as a pinch runner and he also has a very good arm so his ability as a defensive replacement could have some value as well.

Whoops, I meant 3 catchers, Monster...just edited it.

Yeah, you make a pretty good case for Goodrum and Gee. I see Goodrum and Granite somewhat interchangeable (probably only used for pinch running), and the same with Businetz, Pressley, and Gee. Maybe Gibby gets left off and Gee added.

Tuesday night should be fun. I know we always lose in NYC, but that dark cloud doesn't apply much to our younger players. On the positive side, I think the Twins were a better team than the Yankees the last half of the season, and even though the Yanks' starting pitcher had a great season, I'd rather have a 34 year old vet starting than a 23 year old with only 50 starts in the majors and no post season experience. On the other hand, Santana is seldom effective in Yankee Stadium. He clearly needs to step up if we're going to win.

Colon is on the roster, right?

I think he'd be great to use as a pinch runner late in games.

I'm not dying to get Goodrum on the playoff roster I guess my point would be you may want another pinch runner besides the obvious guys espcially of you have guys like Vargas or Sano as pinch hitters.

Gee has given up an earned run or more in 1 of his relief appearances for the Twins. ONE. It's only 11 relief appearances but I don't see how he isn't on the playoff roster in 1 wildcard game or a series.
