Edwards' approach was different. Weird. Maybe even confusing.
Because I get the old "It aint over until the end so you should NEVER concede" angle.
At the same time, I was fine after hearing Ant's explanation. He was going to have to do it anyway... so why not get it done with before the Spurs start celebrating. It goes against the drama of the old sports video moment where the losing team looks on all super sad, vowing it won't happen again, while watching the other team celebrate... but that level of masochism is usually reserved for championship rounds.
Edwards is different (both good and bad). I'm cool with that since it seems to hit on authenticity more often than not.

Can someone explain to me how the whole salary matching thing works with trades?
The Wolves are under the 1sr apron so they don't have those restrictions right? So can they get off contracts.like Ju's without having to take a bunch back?

You can always dump salary without taking ANY back if the team taking on the salary is out of the luxury tax and has actual money to spend during free agency. So THAT team needs to be below the luxury tax line. Which is below the 1st apron. Which is twice removed from the 2nd apron.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 8:51 pm Can someone explain to me how the whole salary matching thing works with trades?

Otherwise it is 120% salary matching unless you are an apron team then it is 110%.

If you want no contracts back at all, Brooklyn, Chicago, Lakers, and Detroit can before they do anything else. Utah, Dallas, and Memphis can absorb most of it but would have to send out a little bit of salary to us. Most teams could send back at least a little less salary to us in a trade of Randle at the start of free agency before they make any other moves.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 9:06 pmSo basically BrooklynMnwild1128 wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 9:01 pmYou can always dump salary without taking ANY back if the team taking on the salary is out of the luxury tax and has actual money to spend during free agency. Thunder lost so they might need to use some of their draft treasure trove to upgrade. SGA is a clear foundational piece, but less sure about Chet and often injured Jalen Williams. Maybe, Thunder replace one of them with Giannis. Maybe they make a big offer for Trey Murphy. Thunder can't be complacent now and so it will be interesting to see what they do.
Re: Wolves offseason outlook.
Given the fact they had two key guys injured (JDubs and Mitchell) I think OKC runs it back next year even though they could go get Giannis if they wanted him (but we don't know if Giannis would want OKC!). They may tinker around the edges, but I just don't see Presti busting up the core yet.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 10:03 pm Thunder lost so they might need to use some of their draft treasure trove to upgrade. I don't think they panic too much given the injuries. I have heard they may try to trade up for a top 3 pick to get Boozer though.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 10:03 pm Thunder lost so they might need to use some of their draft treasure trove to upgrade.
