Re: LeBron Sweepstakes
Is Lebron really a sweepstakes at this point, or is he more of a door prize?
Re: LeBron Sweepstakes
If that's the case, the only top 5 contender for him would be out as he would slot in as the 4 on all of them except MIA and if he goes to the East he has Giannis and others to match up against too. If MIA is his play, then he also has to also guard wings more often.BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2026 8:30 pm After listening to the recent Dane Moore podcast, listened to him talk about the Finch interview and how they want to be versatile and have someone who can guard a rugged four and a shooting four etc., it seems like this boards biggest problem with lack of specific power forward is who will guard the big bruisers of the league…. How long do you think LeBron listens to a pitch that involves Tim Connolly pleading with him to come get beat up by Zion Williamson . I don’t see it being a very enticing offer to a 40-year-old man coming to enjoy the twilight of his career record a documentary while we’re asking him to come in and go up against the physical forwards in the league and get his butt kicked nightly.
The other thing is the team referencing their out of the box options at PF and I think they will utilize this even if Lebron came to MN. It would just be less often with him starting.

Could a phone call from Anthony Edwards turn a Minnesota LeBron mock-up into reality?
While Cleveland & Philly lead the race, sources tell me that the Timberwolves have massive internal interest.
But there's a catch—Ant has yet to make the call.
If he's serious about recruiting the King to the Twin Cities, keep a close eye on Fanatics Fest in NYC.
Full details, roster fits (including the Trey Lyles factor) and the ultimate NYC wildcard: https://scoopb.com/2026/07/the-architec ... -wildcard/
Yep, hahaha. It came out the other day that Ant would be at Fanatics Fest though so that part isn't new. A Rod was in NYC talking to Lebron at a concert or something this week too.
If Ant is slow playing this, only to swoop in in the final days of his decision to say "Bring ya ass"... get it done Ant haha

This video starts out with LeBron saying his decision is about what’s best for him but also what’s best for his family. The reference to his family makes me think Golden State where he would be close to his family who will remain in LA. But his next comment makes the Wolves seem like a perfect destination:
“I’m a natural born leader. I’m going to try fit in to whatever team I’m going into, but also give them all the tools and all the knowledge I’ve been able to grasp over the past 23 years.”
So it’s clear LeBron wants to be a leader and mentor on whatever team he goes to. That perspective doesn’t seem to lend itself to the Sixers with two huge 30+ year old egos in Embiid and Brown. It doesn’t seem like an ideal fit for Miami and Giannis who is another 30+ vet who already has a ring and an MVP trophy. I don’t see it as an ideal fit with James Harden and Donovan Mitchell in Cleveland although I think Cleveland makes more sense than Miami or Philly if LeBron is interested in being a leader and mentor. It doesn’t seem to fit the Warriors whose core is comprised entirely of highly seasoned vets with multiple championship rings. What do they need to learn from him?
Honestly, that one comment screams Timberwolves where he’d play with a core of very talented players in their early to mid 20s without huge egos or any championship rings. As a natural born leader who wants to give his new team he benefit of his tools and knowledge, the Wolves would have to be his choice. But then there’s the family thing that screams Golden State, his love of golf, which screams Golden State or Miami, the positive theater of returning home, which screams Cleveland, and the easier path to the Finals in the Eastern Conference, which screams Philly, Miami and Cleveland.
So who knows. But from a basketball standpoint where LeBron can win and also be a key to winning with his leadership and mentorship as a starter at a position that fits him perfectly at this stage in his career, the Wolves are the only rational choice among the five. Is he stringing us along. I honestly don’t think so. I think he’s struggling with this decision because the best choice looks different depending on the viewing angle.

He may have just been saying the typical platitudes in order to keep things open-ended for now. That being said, his comment about sharing all the "tools and knowledge" is interesting. I think we can all be rest assured that Steve Kerr, Draymond Green, and Steph Curry probably don't need his 23-years of knowledge and tutelage, LOL. They could use his outside shot if he can rediscover it!
And like you said Embiid is probably too jaded at this point to take "advice" from LeBron and Jaylen Brown has played in, gulp, 142 playoff games and has a Finals MVP under his belt. What the hell can he learn from LeBron!? And does James freakin' Harden give a shit what LeBron thinks!? I doubt it.
The Spurs would probably be the ideal team for him if it was all about mentoring and sharing wisdom with a real title contender that is still wet behind the ears. But they weren't interested. So that leaves, double gulp, the Wolves!!!!
Re: LeBron Sweepstakes
Yep. A lot of people are tired of the LeBron saga and just want it to end. But when I was thinking about it earlier today I realized I’ll be disappointed when it’s over. We’re running out of Wolves-related excitement for the summer as we’re heading towards to dog days of August. So I might be alone in hoping this thing keeps going for a while longer.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 8:29 pmLip, you've really been taken up with this LeBron saga! Re: LeBron Sweepstakes
lol. The chance to get a super high IQ player with extensive championship experience who averages 20 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds while shooting over 51% from the field at the vet minimum salary is something I’d still call a sweepstakes.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 4:05 pm Is Lebron really a sweepstakes at this point, or is he more of a door prize?
Re: LeBron Sweepstakes
There was a guy at Summer league that had a T-shirt with the Wolves starting 5 with LeBron with Ant in the middle with the text "Being ya ass!". It was pretty great. I chatted with him a little and then he had some Knicks fans come over and talked to him and they were having a good time.DNatagal wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 3:14 pm Has anyone created an AI pic of LeBron in a Wolves uniform yet? What number does he want?
Do the Wolves have room to drag Bronny along?
In all seriousness, the Wolves might be the best landing spot. LeBron can play as little as he wants during the season. I am thinking 22 to 24 minutes a game. He can take an in-season vacation if he needs to. But I think he is going to have a blast playing with the kids that are on the roster. Might be a fountain of youth for him. He can coast until the playoffs and then look for that final title for his resume.
Or he can fuck off to Miami.

Gun to my head I would say Philly, but I still have hope for us.

It seemed at one point that people didn't think Lebron would go to Cleveland with Harden. Does anyone know if that's a real thing?Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 8:33 pmYep. As for how long he is taking to decide...he take take all the time he wants within some sort of reason. I mean if we are a couple weeks from training camp or something then that's too long. Also the draft has already happened FA has played out for the most part. It's not like he is holding teams hostage keeping them from making some major move or signing that I can see. He might still be deciding and as some other people on this board a otherwise have said maybe he is also waiting till other various moves are announced so those players etc have their time and then he can do his thing. It might be a few more days but I'd guess he is going to want to make a decision at some point too. The guy probably wants to have some time where he knows what he is going to do going into the season and get ready for it. If he is doing a documentary he is gonna want to have people have time to get all the logistics situated etc.
