I know it’s just preseason, but the first game against the Heat is going to be a big challenge for us if Jaden ànd Green start at the two forward positions. Jaden will be giving up 30-40 pounds, and with Wig being nearly 9 feet in standing reach, Green will be giving up 6 inches in length. Not saying they can’t do it, but we’ll be asking à heck of a lot out of those two guys.
I agree with the opinion here that Finchys nature is to go with a set lineup, and I think the players like it too. He may not have that luxury this season though.
I don't disagree with at least part of your premise. Giannis is a big challenge for anybody and in a small sample size Jaden hasn't faired particularly well guarding him.
However, are we expecting that Lyles is gonna be much of obstacle either? It's Giannis.
Regarding Wig..... Well let's just say if we're truly worried about what the likes of Andrew Wiggen will do to this squad than we've got bigger problems. Matchups aren't only about standing reach either and I think you know that.
Ultimately I agree that, it stands to reason that Finch is going to need to be more flexible with rotations. He'll have to play bigger lineups against a team like the Heat. It worth pointing out tho that the Heat don't exactly have any elite ball handlers so you can run with Lyles and Jaden at the forward position and still be in a favorable spot because Jaden will likely be off ball, which I think puts them in a better spot defensively.
As long as the the team is good enough to make the playoffs, I'm not concerned if we start the season without a real starting pf to see how it looks. They can always pivot as early as December when all the players that signed this summer to mle and under deals would become tradeable. If the team rebouding concept isn't working, and we desperately need some size, we can go after someone in a trade at that time, after we see how far along Donte is coming.
So Jaden faired significantly better except he fouled him a lot
I just had lunch and 2 large cookies so I'm ready for a food coma...so I'm gonna ask what does the 75 mean in these numbers?
Per 75 possessions. Idk why but thats how databallers gave the stats and I couldn't change it
Thanks I'll be honest idk how that compared to a full game but basketball reference has per 36 mins and then 100 possessions so I guess I could compare a little that way.
Anyhow it's interesting to look at those numbers. I will say while I'm not gonna pump up Lyles defense or anything I don't think the Kings were a particularly good defensive team so that's worth considering. I'd also say that's a ton of fouls for Jaden. Lol
If the roster stays status quo then I would like to see as follows:
Starters
Ball
Edwards
Green
McDaniels
Gobert
I'm higher than most on Jaden starting at the PF. I really don't see it as a big of an issue as most pundits and posters do. He has the length, switchability and smarts to defend the position and offensively it better suits him playing at the 4 next to Rudy. I'd start Green due to his 3 and D ability as well as the familiarity of playing with Ball. There was a statistic I saw that Greens shooting percentage at Charlotte was 12% better when play with Ball then without.

Those numbers are super noisy.
Converting it is pretty easy I guess and I could have done that.
Just divide by 75 and then multiply by 100.
So 22.6 is 30.1 per 100
However since 100 possessions is roughly how many are in a single game, and a game is 48 minutes, 75 possessions roughly translates to the Per 36 number.

Thanks for all that. Contextually I figured that's kinda what I was looking at but I hadn't ever seen that 75 breakdown before. I really wanted to know what it meant for sure and you ended up breaking it down. Thanks!
