I wonder if anyone is going to give Ryan Nembhard a regular contract. He has moved around this off season in a few trades before getting waived. Would love to have him on a 2-way if he doesn't get a regular contract from someone. He is really short which holds him back, but he did have 23 assists in his last game, which is more than any Wolves player has ever had. Rubio has the record with 19 assists in a game.

Dillingham has been traded from the Bulls too the Hornets for Buddy Heild. Ryan Nembhard has been waived and likely will have plenty of suiters for a 2way deal including the Nuggets if he clears waivers which seems likely. The Hornets already have multiple small guards (see them waiving Nembhard) so Dillingham may be on the move or even let go. That was not a good pick but at least the Wolves moved on while they could get something out of trading him. I still think he has a shot to be a worthwhile player but...

Dillingham has been traded from the Bulls too the Hornets for Buddy Heild. Ryan Nembhard has been waived and likely will have plenty of suiters for a 2way deal including the Nuggets if he clears waivers which seems likely. The Hornets already have multiple small guards (see them waiving Nembhard) so Dillingham may be on the move or even let go. That was not a good pick but at least the Wolves moved on while they could get something out of trading him. I still think he has a shot to be a worthwhile player but...

I'm guessing someone will sign him to a 2 way deal. It feels like teams are pulling the plug on draft picks quicker than they used to. I think that's because of the depth of the talent in the league combined with not wanting to guarantee their money any longer if you aren't certain they are gonna be good.

Meanwhile the kinda reasonable floor for Dillingham was a Bones Hyland who the Wolves currently have as a depth guy on their roster for the vet min.

I'm guessing someone will sign him to a 2 way deal. It feels like teams are pulling the plug on draft picks quicker than they used to. I think that's because of the depth of the talent in the league combined with not wanting to guarantee their money any longer if you aren't certain they are gonna be good.

Meanwhile the kinda reasonable floor for Dillingham was a Bones Hyland who the Wolves currently have as a depth guy on their roster for the vet min.

Was Bones his floor or ceiling? Rob has great handles and quickness, but he never developed a consistent shot from anywhere on the floor in the NBA. Whenever he attacked the rim, he faded towards the side of the backboard and threw up really tough shots off the glass. And while he was trying defensively, there's only so much you can do when you're barely 6 feet tall in the NBA. He was always likely to be a serious liability in the playoffs and Connelly should have known that even before drafting him.

I think a scoring 6th man was his best case scenario. Finch saw him in practice as well as in the games, and it's likely he saw even earlier than the skeptics what a long shot it was that he'd even get to that, so he understandably didn't play him. Now the Bulls and Hornets have come to the same conclusion. Eleven months ago, there were people here calling for Rob to be the starter on a team that had just gone to back-to-back conference finals. Now, before a year is out, will he even make the league this year?

This definitely dings Connelly's reputation (kudos to him for moving on from Rob, though), but I think it also burnishes Finch's.

Fair and good points. To me the biggest issue with Dillingham and why I liked the pick at the time was he projected to be a really good 3 point shooter. He so far has been a terrible 3 point shooter and the volume he took them is also telling. Of you are an undersized guard and you can't shoot you have next to nothing in the NBA. If you are a really good PG that can manage a game and create for others and play some at least passable defense you might be able to stick in the league as a backup for a while if you can't hit 3's. Comparing to Bones Dillingham was simply a much worse shooter and Bones volume was at least double. Bones isn't a PG but his assist numbers are similar to Dillingham but the turnovers for Dillingham are much worse. And then there is just watching those 2 guys play basketball last year. There was no comparison. The biggest positive about Dillingham as a Wolf was it felt like he was bought in on playing defense. Offensively it was a disaster worse than Hyland who was considered a mixed bag at best and apparently thought he was better than he was.

Back to my point was that picking Dillingham obviously the goal was to find a guard of the future but if you didn't get that you get a nice bench scorer...Bones is that guy and we got him for nothing because Connelly believed in him and for last season despite the playoffs was a nice signing for the vet min. I know we have traded out a lot of picks but it's kinda impressive what he has been able to put together and he has not done well in the draft. A couple guys in Joan and TJ could change that this year and they are likely to have real roles.
