Wolves are getting trashed on social media. Does no one have an imagination? The Wolves should be able to do much better with a TPE vs Randle the player.

Another note on the trade: I've seen people say the draft talent drops off in the early 20s, so an early 2nd rounder, which incurs a much smaller salary AND can be non-guaranteed, can be valued by some teams higher than a late 1st rounder. From TC's perspective, he may have "improved" his draft position while dumping Randle's contract for nothing!

And because some teams might value #33 over #28, TC might garner a better return if he opts out of #33 than if he was still at #28. Is it a game of chess?!?

What this trade did.

Allows us to resign Ayo

The wolves now have the full MLE (15 million) to use that they didn’t have before and Bi-Annual MLE

And have a 33 million dollar trade exception to acquire a player

I'm one of the biggest Randle fans around and I LOVE this deal.

This trade I believe eliminated the bulls from being about to acquire Ayo over the MLE

Yup! Claxton would make a mess of the roster with three non-shooting centers in Rudy, Joan and Claxton.

He wasn't going there anyway but that's good for negotiations!

I believe the answer is no. Especially since we will not technically fall under the cap.

Shams says we create a 33.3 mil trade exception. So the trade must be consummated after July 1st. So, rather than trading Randle directly for another player, TC an choose when an who he wants to bring in.

It really is a savvy move (even if it only makes up for the original "unsavvy" move of extending Randle in the first place!).
Haha exactly. Not a good move to originally sign him but seems like this offers some options

TC is in the galley cooking. The next couple moves are going to be very compelling.

Ok so now the Wolves can absorb salary from Milwaukee without burdening them with Julius. Bring on Giannis!
