He says the sign and trade is hard for the lakers because of the hawks. First of all, all sign and trades must be min 3 year contract so kuminga might not get the number he wants. And the hawks to sign and trade kuminga must trade another player to avoid the apron, from what windy is saying they really don’t want to do that.

You are correct the first 3 years can't. The non guarantee can function the same way and even give him more money in the end, but again I dont think he wants to lock himself into a "low" number. A Wolves 1 year minimum will have more value to him to a certain 3 year number from LA. I'm curious what that number is.

The thing is the Hawks have to be interested and so far apparently nothing has interested them. Why take on an overpaid player if you aren't getting something? They may as well sign Kuninga themselves for something over the vet min. Windhorst suggested Hardy as a sign and trade option that's not much more money than just taking a vet min and hope for the best. Plus again even at that salary does the Hawks want Hardy? Probably not.

I'm 100% I'm support of the Wolves trying to get Kuminga on the vet min it totally makes sense he is a talented player a few weeks away from turn 24 and has played plenty of NBA basketball. Maybe he is ready to break out in some way. Still I oddly feel pessimistic that it's going to work out. It may be worth noting that it seems he has mostly been considering teams that are projected to be good. Idk if there was any money available from teams that are less good but we have seen guys take the money over better opportunity on a winning team. He has also only played for winning teams.

Anyone want to take a stab at what his best case reasonable upside is?
