I get that this gives us flexibility to re-sign Ayo and potentially take on more salary in another trade.
But when was the last time you saw a guy averaging 20, 5, and 5 who was NOT earning the max traded for basically nothing? As far as I can tell, it's barely ever happened.
Credit to Connelly for trading away a guy he re-signed last summer and basically admitting he re-signed the wrong guy. But it's still pretty hard to swallow. We had clear chemistry issues, but I think they went beyond Randle, so I don't think it's a slam dunk that this clears that all up. In the meantime, we have to admit we did just lose a lot of production for nothing. Yes, I know we could potentially take on another contract in a trade now, but obviously, we'd probably be giving up assets for that too. So this could end up looking ok if we DO end up getting a good player besides Ayo without giving up too much in a trade, but that's unlikely. This trade doesn't include that player. In whatever other trade we make that would bring in a player to use up some of that salary, we'd likely be paying fair value there. So right now, we basically gave up 20, 5, and 5 on a fair market contract for nothing. At least in the days before the second apron, that would have been insane. I hope it won't be under this CBA, but it all depends on what Connelly can do with the salary space.

Did Naw play with multiple players out injured like Ayo did?rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:02 pmDid NAW drop 43 in a playoff game? Ayo has never played a defensive game like Naw has in a playoff game. But i see you are like the casuals in thinking points is all that matters. Lol

So we traded Kat for Joan (and some flexibility) at this point. I love Joan, so it doesn’t look as bad. TC is just lucky that Dilly wasn’t the one taken with that pick instead, otherwise he would be looking like a complete freaking moron at this point.

Let's say you really wanted Suggs. If the Magic are willing to move on from him you have to think if a team would take him without any other salary coming back they would likely consider it even if they got no assets back. I'm not sure I would want to do that but we just did it with Randle who is arguably a better player.SameOldNudityDrew wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:04 pm I get that this gives us flexibility to re-sign Ayo and potentially take on more salary in another trade.

I think you’re putting too much stock into one game, vs a terrible defensive team. Mo Williams, Cory brewer and D rose all scored 50 in a game for the wolves… should they all have gotten massive contracts? Sure Ayo is a nice rotation piece, but I really don’t see how he’s worth more than the 15M MLE.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:02 pmDid NAW drop 43 in a playoff game? Re: Randle traded to Brooklyn in 3 team deal
That trade is Beringer Donte and a blank check for up to like 30 million for another player.
Re: Randle traded to Brooklyn in 3 team deal
With Randle gone for both this season and next season Ayo getting a couple million more probably doesn't matter a whole lot. Let's see what else they do this off-season in terms of adding salalty and what Ayo looks like next season.D-Loser25 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:15 pmI think you’re putting too much stock into one game, vs a terrible defensive team. Re: Randle traded to Brooklyn in 3 team deal
Exactly. It’s the same as the pro Randle argument. Chemistry and defense don’t matter. Also, I’m not rewarding a guy who didn’t lay it all on the line in the playoffs. He could have played through injury like Ant did, but he chose not to. Maybe wise on his part, but on the flip side, it’s wise for the wolves not to pay him anymore than they have to.Mnwild1128 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:05 pmDid Naw play with multiple players out injured like Ayo did?rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:02 pmDid NAW drop 43 in a playoff game? Maybe better in regular season games. But he is a offense only guy and his offense plummets in playoff series against teams that matter. I know Suggs is terrible on offense but his defense does not drop off. So i would say when it comes to the playoffs, Suggs and Randle are neutral or Suggs gets a tiny edge. To be clear, i don't want either player on my team.Monster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:13 pmLet's say you really wanted Suggs.
