Hmm. That’s $240M for an allstar but not superstar. I’d say $120M is reasonable for Naz.

I thought the Jackson contract was high, too. I just listened to the Mismatch podcast this morning, however, and Vernon was on there saying that Jackson just missed eligibility for a $350M extension. He came in 17th for the 15 All NBA spots, which would have triggered the much larger extension. I'm sure Memphis in a meh year was rooting behind the scenes for Jackson NOT to make All NBA.
The guy has some good things going for him... he's averaged 22+ ppg and remains an All NBA defensive talent entering his prime. That's a rare mix. Conversely, his playoff runs and poor rebounding and a general lack of physicality have been huge flaws.
As for Reid, I think it's a bit of a make-good overpay... but not an egregious one. By comparison... as noted, Aldama is making $52M over the next 3 years. His numbers have improved each of his first four seasons in the L... and were very Naz Reid-like last season.
I'll give Utah some credit for trading for Collins. They had some space to add him and gave up Gay and a 2nd to acquire him and hopefully rehab him and move him for some value or have him as a worthwhile player themselves. Last year he actually moved in the direction of increasing his value but I think he just makes a little too much money for what he provides for teams to give up anything worthwhile for him. I kinda feel bad for him (he will be OK since he has plenty of money) as he is a kinda good player but is in sorta in basketball purgatory and isn't getting younger turning 28 in a couple months. It seems like Utah really sat a bunch of guys last year and so I don't feel too bad for them not winning the lottery. Maybe they still got a really good player and if so good for them for drafting him even though they weren't supposed to...
