What do we need an offseason point guard for anyways? We should be concentrating on finding a guy to play PG NEXT YEAR!?!? Who cares who our offseason Pg is?

The off-season PG is huge for the off-season. We can't have Edwards out there playmaking on his own and Connelly and Lloyd and the gang need the right guy to help set up their moves. Most people don't realize how good Rudy's off-season defense is.

People can pick their favorite PG and say "Go get 'em, TC!" But that player may not be realistically available, or simply too expensive get. I have my top 6, any one of which I would be very happy if TC pulled it off (while off-loading Randle):

LaMelo Ball - $40.7M, $43.5M, $46.4M
Kyrie Irving - $39.5M, $42.4M (Player Option)
DeJounte Murray - $32.8M, $30.8M (Player Option) *** I fixed it!
Jrue Holiday - $34.8M, $37.2M (Player Option)
Immanuel Quickley -$32.5, $32.5, $32.5
Derrick White - $30.4M, $32.5M, $34.9M (Player Option)

I keep thinking there could be some steam behind Quickley, although it would likely require a 3rd team...
Thanks Tim. The reason for the error on Murray was because I copied my pre-trade deadline post on PG options and updated it. I must have forgotten to delete that first salary line on DeJounte.

The options you listed are all good ones. But if we go make a big splash at some other position besides PG, then I REALLY like the idea of doing what would be a fairly minor deal with Memphis to get one of their surplus guards - Cam Spencer, Scottie Pippen Jr., or Ty Jerome. No way can Memphis keep all those guys PLUS the three other legit rotation guards they have including Ja.

How much would it cost to sign Brandon Williams? I know the 3 point shot is an issue but it looks to me like he is a guy that gets into the paint and that's something different than some of the other guards they have had other than Edwards.

It would be nice to get one of those cheap guards out of nowhere like Pippen Jr. The organization did well finding McLaughlin years ago but finding a guy like that who could score some would be pretty nice. It's not a guarantee to find someone like that but it's also reasonably doable.

What would the appetite be for Cason Wallace? There are rumblings that he wants to be a starter. Could he be the starter next to Ant? I'm guessing the only bait we have would be the 2033 first and Wallace could fit into the Mike Conley trade exception. He will need to be paid the following summer. It would seem he wants to make his mark before hitting the market at that time.

sure, but other teams could offer more.

Likely but Wolves might be in a sweet spot for the Thunder with a trade exception, a pick in the far future when many teams are reportedly reluctant to trade. This would be best case cap management move for them. And if Wallace wants to start and compete, the list is short.

Phenom, Wallace is an elite POA defender. He'd be great in terms of guarding other PGs, but he just doesn't offer enough as a ball handler and floor general to justify starting him next to Ant in my opinion based on what the front office and Finch said was needed.

Is there reason to think in a different role he could be what the Wolves need?

Wouldn't we want to actually see him in that role though before committing to his agent the starting PG role? I mean, may be he could do more ball-handling/PG duties, but that seems like quite a leap of faith to suddenly be thrust into a starting PG role after years of playing off SGA.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the guy, but I'm not even convinced he should start over Ayo, who also has some question marks when it comes to the starting PG role.
