A few thoughts on the Spurs:

- Poor De'Aaron Fox. Man, did he come up empty in these last couple of big games and will be the scapegoat for Spurs fans I'm sure.

- Contrarian Thought: Fox's contract and the Spurs' desire to get off it could mean they'd be willing to give other assets up to a taker, right? Is there ANY world where it might make sense for the Wolves to take on Fox's deal with the Spurs 2026 1st (#20) thrown in for the trouble in exchange for Randle & DDV. I actually think Randle makes some sense on the Spurs, especially after the way Keldon Johnson flopped. They really could use another big body. Would anyone do a deal like this?

- Wemby is a total game changer defensively, but offensively he has a long ways to go to become a true force multiplier. He generally can be guarded one on one and just has problems squaring up for good, balanced shots. As a result, he wasn't much of a threat in crunch time and it was left to Harper and Fox to try to close games and Fox especially just isn't a #1 type guy.

- OKC still seems like the top dog in the West when you look at their talent, depth, experience, and draft capital.

Really interesting thought on the Ju for Fox thing. Yes Fox was not good in the playoffs, but don't we owe him the same grace we're giving Ant? His ankle was clearly bothering him from the middle of our series and throughout the finals. I was never a Fox fan until this season, but I developed an appreciation for him watching him with the Spurs. 6.2/2.3 assist to TO is just what this team needs. And the Spurs need a true PF to add some size and toughness. Yes, Fox's contract is not good, so I would not make this trade without a lot of draft capital coming back.

Took the Knicks 53 years, took Denver 47 years, have patience this is the best core we've ever had. If the Twins can win 2, the Wolves can win in this parity era of basketball.

I still maintain that this core isn't good enough. We just want it to be.

and I just have this sinking feeling that Connelly is just another Daryl Morey, and I don't mean that in a good way. Being linked to every top 20 player just because you want them is something any of us can do. He just hasn't done the things necessary to actually build this thing.

Maybe time will tell. We also didn't think KAT could win a title, didn't think Wiggins could win a title, didn't think knuckles push ups could win a tittle. Brunson begged for Dallas to extend him, they let him walk for nothing. Guys win championship you don't expect all the time.

KAT did his avg disaster of a playoff game though when it mattered most. The Knicks were too good and too deep so they could overcome his stinker of a clincher game. We couldn't overcome his stinkers. Of course, his stinkers came far more often for us too. So give him credit for not sucking too often.

I was cheering for this Spurs, but I agree with both of your sentiments. I love KAT, but the Knicks won last night in spite of him rather than because of him...1 for 7 with 5 turnovers, and the only starter with a negative plus minus. If Ju had put up a line that bad in the playoffs, we'd be coming after him with pitchforks. Everything is rosy in Knicksland right now, but their fans were down on him much of the season. You have to wonder how they are going to view his contract when they go back and review his stats in the finals. 13/10, less than a trey per game, 2.6 turnovers and 4.6 fouls per game is not what we want to see from a guy owed $57 and $61 million the next two seasons.

Will be interesting if they extend him this summer. He is eligible to sign a 4 year 272 million extension which would lock him into the Knicks for at least a year as I believe you can't trade someone for a year after an advanced extension.

Come on FNG. You are the biggest +\- guy in world and Kat just broke the +\- playoff run record in nba history. How you view the game you should be celebrating Kat just had the greatest NBA playoffs for any player to ever play in the playoffs in the +\- era

Some good thoughts here. I'll add a couple of my own.

In all but the game 1 loss the Spurs were a play or 2 away from winning the game. This was with a group of guys that largely had not even played one minute in the playoffs before this year. They lost but it's not like they have some talent deficiency or something...they did need more from their bench other than Harper

The Spurs would have to give back more than what is suggested for me to want to make that Fox trade. I agree he would fit better here but he makes so much money the next 4 years (221-229 million depending on what site you look at) if it goes wrong we are gonna be screwed. If we traded for him there would eventually be so many posts about how overpaid he is and how dumb Connelly is etc. At this point Fox is a good starter but is getting paid like a star player. If it was between Fox and Morant It would be somewhat less risky to take on Morant because he is paid less and for only 2 more years. I do agree Randle on the Spurs makes sense. I like Fox I'd like him here but the deal he has is a real problem. If he was making like 30 million yeah great I'd say bring him here. When evaluating players their contracts are such a huge factor in sports and it does suck sometimes.

Wow, almost $70 million a year! I think the only way they do that is if they can ignore the first half of the season and the finals and focus on the parts of the season when he was really good.
