That trade is Beringer Donte and a blank check for up to like 30 million for another player.
Well Donte will never play another game for the wolves, so at this point, it’s essentially Joan plus some flexibility, like I said 😊. Not really complaining, but it just looks kinda bad. Thought we could have done better than Randle for Kat. I think they tried selling DDV as the real centerpiece of that trade, but nobody buying that. TC should have done better or kept Kat, but I think we lucked out with Joan, so I’m good.

Also Naz would be gone because they wouldn’t have the cap to resign him
Ok, let me know when we get to the bad part…

Did NAW drop 43 in a playoff game? It was a shame that he got hurt, we didn't get to see Ant and Ayo healthy together.
I think you’re putting too much stock into one game, vs a terrible defensive team. Mo Williams, Cory brewer and D rose all scored 50 in a game for the wolves… should they all have gotten massive contracts? Sure Ayo is a nice rotation piece, but I really don’t see how he’s worth more than the 15M MLE.
With Randle gone for both this season and next season Ayo getting a couple million more probably doesn't matter a whole lot. Let's see what else they do this off-season in terms of adding salalty and what Ayo looks like next season.
Good point

someone caught up with Jaden and broke the news to him.

He didn't seem too broken hearted over it.

I will be incredibly surprised if the Wolves ever utilize the $33 million trade exception that was created tonight. Those things are almost always much ado about nothing and it is clear that money was a factor tonight.

That’s interesting and a relief. It’s great to have a quality NBA beat reporter like Jon K! It makes sense to me that the Randle deal was all about financial flexibility. The Wolves lost two things in the Rudy deal: (1) draft capital, and (2) financial flexibility, costing them both KAT and then NAW. The Randle deal recaptures one of those two. I think it was a very shrewd move by TC if used for that purpose.

If the Wolves front office wants to add an impact player to the roster and if Jon K is correct, then they’ll trade Rudy rather than use the trade exception. But I could certainly see the Wolves dealing Rudy mainly to recapture some of the draft capital they gave up to acquire him. Maybe they can do both.

I'll bet you if he isn't traded Donte will play at least 1 game for the Wolves this coming season. Players are returning much quicker from that injury. He also still provided value the 2 seasons he was here. He was a very valuable part of that trade. If he was healthy right now he would have quite a bit of value and even with his injury a team still might be interested in acquiring him since he might return in time to ramp up for a playoff run. Will he be effective when he comes back? I do have my doubts but I do think he will play and it's also possible they resign him which they likely wouldn't be able to sign him as a free agent so that has some value as well.
