This move makes no sense to me. I've never been much of a Harris fan, and who on that team are you going to take minutes away from? I think they just became worse with the addition.

Moreover, it doesn’t look good in retrospect. Kessler plus Beasley, Vanderbilt, and one of the five future firsts we gave up for Gobert seems like fair value.
Why are we still talking about this

Jazz record last 3 years
68-178
Timberwolves record last 3 years
154-92
2 conference finals

Glad Jazz got 3 years of losing basketball and a future 11 and 13 year old.
God I hate draft pick culture
It's not "still talking about it". It's not "draft pick culture". We're not rehashing if trading for Rudy was good or bad.

It's that RIGHT NOW the off season would look different if TC had 1-2 of those firsts to use right now. Isn't about obsessing over 1st round picks and is simply about what they could be doing with that additional ammo right now.

Yeah I'm not deterred by this.

It’s such moot point cause you cant even say Ant was on the team at this point or where the team is at this point if they don't make the Rudy trade.

So whats the point of talking about hypothetical picks that would could have if we didn't trade Rudy?

What if we didn't trade up for dilly and still had our pick and just drafted ayo at our original pick?

My point is whats the point of talking about it doesn't exist.

Vando! He was actually a mini-feel-good developmental story for the Wolves.

We could do worse in terms of having a couple of high-motor activity bigs on the roster between him and Freeman. Their floor can't get too low due to effort alone.

Still, shooting.....

Last comment on this as I'm not trying hijack the thread. It's not what if hindsight. Many of us thought TC could have pulled off the same trade with 1-2 less 1sts going out (Getting Rudy was good despite overpaying on picks). The only reason it's currently relevant to mention is the moves they have made so far and how the added ammo would have made those moves easier or more fruitful.

To the one relevant part of your comment with regards to my posts, It's easy to always say "why bother talking about past things", but also why bother responding to it then..

Yep lol. Thinking about what the Wolves could be doing or could have done if they had 2 more 1sts to dangle. Could they have snagged Ball for 2 picks + swaps instead of throwing in Naz? IDK since CHA badly wanted Naz, but sucks they didn't have that option.
Idk Gobert is simply a superior player to Kessler right now and he is only gonna make about 2.5 million more in salary.
That’s true, Monster. But Kessler is much younger and can actually shoot. So looking at it more broadly it’s pretty close. Moreover, it doesn’t look good in retrospect. Kessler plus Beasley, Vanderbilt, and one of the five future firsts we gave up for Gobert seems like fair value.
Kessler can shoot? I thought so too but in reality I think that's a stretch. He has made 17 more 3's in his career than you have. He actually has a worse FT percentage than Gobert. Kessler has anchored the 30rd worst defense in the NBA twice. Both guys basically take a massive percentage of their shots within 10 feet of the basket. I'm gonna need to see more than a 5 game sample from last year to believe Kessler is a guy that can actually make shots outside of 10 feet from the basket. I wouldn't have done the deal but Gobert has been everything that could be expected from that deal and Utah still sucks. The saying is that typically the team that gets the best player in a trade wins. Gobert is easily the best player on that trade so far.

I think it's a related trade as it also included Utah and Vanderbilt and Beasley, Connelly basically took the Lakers and Utah to the cleaners a few months later on the Russell deal. That deal may not have happened if the Wolves don't do the Gobert deal.

Edit: and now Vando was cut by the Lakers.

I wouldn't mind Vando on a vet min in a backup PF role. Do wish he could shoot though lol
