Boston will probably end up rehabbing Paul George and basically look like contenders again at some point next season. Or still do it without him. Lol

Oh for sure and I get super maxes are not so easy to move, but damn that's all they got for prime Jalen Brown lol. I get that it's Paul George, but dude is 36 and making ~54m and 56m the next 2 seasons.

76ers winning the East if Embiid stays healthy. 4-6 seed otherwise.
Re: 2026 FA/Trades/Resigns
I've always felt that when a team keeps its own player and goes above the max that other teams could give, that extra money should be salary cap exempt. If the league is serious about teams getting to keep their home grown talent, this is the way.
We have seen many times that these contracts get too big and teams have to get out from them. Example is when Jimmy Butler was traded to us before he could get his big raise.
That said, I'm pissed if I'm a Celtics fan.

Santi Aldama got traded to Dallas for a first rounder (top 20 protected) and a trade exception, AJ Johnson, 2 2's

I know that this is what NBA wants, but like..... Is it?
I legit don't understand how we got here to the 2nd apron era. The constraints seem impossible and eventually all that's gonna happen is mid level starters are gonna get phased out of the league for cheap rookies. Just like what happen in the NFL after the rookie scale -- for different reasons.
The interact with max contracts is also gonna cost players money and punish teams for finding and developing superstars.... Again, I just don't understand how we got here

Aldama to Mavs for AJ Johnson, a 1st and two 2nds
Re: 2026 FA/Trades/Resigns
YES! I've thought that same type of thing too. Allow teams to designate a #1 guy for a tax exception. A bird rights exemption is an interesting idea or even just a % of their cap hit. It could even require them to be on the team for X seasons to qualify or something. Basically benefit more of the "home grown" stars.Phenom wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 5:52 pmI've always felt that when a team keeps its own player and goes above the max that other teams could give, that extra money should be salary cap exempt. The Grizz might be content with their forwards now. Is Dallas looking to dump PJ?WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 5:56 pm Santi Aldama got traded to Dallas for a first rounder (top 20 protected) and a trade exception, AJ Johnson, 2 2's

Agree, but then why not Sochan who gives you what Vando brings but with more upside.TheGrey08 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 4:34 pmI wouldn't mind Vando on a vet min in a backup PF role. Do wish he could shoot though lolQ-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 4:03 pm Vando! He was actually a mini-feel-good developmental story for the Wolves.
We could do worse in terms of having a couple of high-motor activity bigs on the roster between him and Freeman. Their floor can't get too low due to effort alone.
Still, shooting.....
